Ball mould with Christine

Hi guys. I have made a little video of me using a ball mould so you can see the process. Make sure you let your moulds fully dry before using them (around 2 weeks may be necessary) and wipe them out with a lightly dampened cloth to remove any loose plaster as you don't want that getting into your clay. I've used BRT here, and while this is only a small mould, the principal is the same regardless of size. I hope this helps those of you who have never done it.

Starting with a ball can lead to many creations! Post any questions below and I'll answer as best as I can. I'm self taught in this technique, but this seems to work for me!

Tip1: make sure the inside is fully blended. When smoothing the outside, if any joins are deep, I add a little clay to fill. Then I go over with a serrated rib, followed by a red soft rubber rib dipped in water... it gives a lovely finish.

Tip2: don't forget you will need an air hole or two in your balls so they can breathe in the kiln (and not explode).
